Water - Inside Town limits water/sewer/garbage pickup is provided and billed monthly on a single statement.
Outside Town limits only water is available in some close-by locations. These services are not available from Monroe County and must be provided by private contractors where needed.
Town fees (pay at City Hall): Existing service - $50 nonrefundable connection fee.
New construction - (Fill out no-cost application at City Hall to determine availability of services to your location.)
Inside Town limits: $750 meter tap fee for water and $750 sewer connection fee.
Outside Town limits: $1000 meter tap fee for water only. See City Hall info below
|
Sewer - (See Water section above for Town services inside Town limits) Outside Town limits you will need to provide your own septic system. Contact the Environmental Division of the Monroe County Health Department (in the office 8-9 AM, then out in the field the rest of the day). Here’s how it works: When you’re ready for construction, fill out the application at the Courthouse Annex and pay the $250 fee. Within 5-10 working days the Environmentalist will visit the site and may require a soil evaluation (may be another $200 fee for soil testing, mapping, etc.). When the Environmentalist is satisfied, he/she will issue a permit describing the required system. You must obtain a licensed installer to construct the system according to the Permit and notify the Environmentalist when work is completed. The Environmentalist will inspect and issue a Certificate of Completion. For new construction, the electrical inspector must have a copy of the Cert. of Completion before he will allow the final elect. turn-on (State Law).
Telephone - Provided by TDS Telecom for Voice, Internet, and Satellite for Residential and Business Service

Fees are based on the required service amperage: 0-200 will cost you $32, 201-400 $45, and 401-600 $55 for each inspection. The Permits may be purchased locally at Yates Home Store and Tallent Hardware, as well as Wholesale Supply and Sloan Center in Madisonville.
